Triumph of the Cyborg Composer
By Evan Stein on March 4, 2010
She was just a software program, a jumble of code he’d originally dubbed Experiments in Musical Intelligence (EMI, hence “Emmy”). Still — though Cope struggles not to anthropomorphize her — he speaks of Emmy wistfully, as if she were a deceased child. via Triumph of the Cyborg Composer | Smart Journalism. “If you think it’s expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur.” —Red Adair
Cheap, Fast, or Good. Pick two.
Choose good and fast and I will postpone jobs, cancel appointments, lock myself in a room and not sleep just to get your job done. But, don’t expect it to be cheap.
Choose good and cheap and I’ll do a great job for a discounted price, but you’ll have to be patient until I have a free moment from other paying clients.
Choose fast and cheap and expect an inferior job delivered on time. As a general rule, just remember that old saying, “You get what you pay for.”
